Fall Seminar
( Virtual and In-person)
This October, the Guild is going to be in Charlotte, NC working with Bona doing a three-day seminar.
All Guild classes are based in the application of science and technical knowledge to “Real World” flooring issues.
Day 1: Bona
How to inspect Sand and Finish Complaints. Inspectors who complete the course will have their names and contact information on a “Special Page” on the Guild’s New Website so they can be found for Sand and Finishing Inspections.
9:00 AM - noon - Lunch , class resumes at 1:30 PM
Day 2: Tramex Meter, Dr. Hindman and Delmhorst Meters
8:30 AM - Tramex Meters - Moisture measurements of concrete. Students who complete this class will have their names and contact information on the Guild’s website page for concrete moisture testing - Tramex’s dedicated page.
Break at 10:00, Class resumes at 10:15 with Dr. Bond, how to recognize drying defects,
Break at noon
1:30 PM - Classes resumes with Delmhorst Meters, measuring moisture levels in solid and engineered wood. Dr. Hindman’s research for statistically accurate number of measurements for installation and inspections. Each inspector who completes this class will have their names and contact information listed on Delmhorst’s Guild Page.
Delmhorst’s, Bona’s and Tramex’s pages are promotional for inspectors to be found for specialized inspections, and to help Promote the best sand and finish inspectors, and and inspectors with knowledge of how to use moisture measurements meters correctly in the flooring trade.
Day 3: Dr. Loferski, Kevin Schleweis and Mark Cordle.
Dr Loferski will explain the production of Engineered Wood Floors and production defects. Then, Kevin and Dr. Loferski will discuss environmental issues Kevin has encountered and his research with Dr. Loferski, to determine the causes of engineered wood flooring failures.
Noon: Lunch
1:30 PM - 2:30 Inspection procedure for the most common inspection today, vinyl planks (Henri)
2:45 Break
3:00 - 4:30 Mark Cordle, nationally recognized building inspector and code compliance expert. Mark is the one they call when there are construction defects and questions concerning building code compliance. Mark is a nationally recognized building expert who is licensed in several states, and consults nationally. He will discuss and explain the different viewpoints and approaches by building experts, such as he is, and floor inspections. This is a “must” class if you want to work with lawyers or building contractors. You will learn the basic informational approach to working with both to get you started.
