Experience: I have been part of the flooring industry since 1975, building a career that has spanned every aspect of the business. Over the decades, I have worked in manufacturing, installation, distribution, and retail, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the flooring trade from the ground up. This experience has allowed me to develop a unique perspective on how products are created, sold, and installed, as well as how issues arise and can best be resolved.

My professional focus evolved into inspections and education, where I recognized the critical need for structured, high-quality training. Today, I am the founder and director of the Inspector Flooring Certification Institute International (IFCII), one of the most prominent and respected flooring inspection training schools in the nation. IFCII provides in-depth certification programs for inspectors across all types of floor coverings, ensuring they are equipped to identify problems accurately, apply industry standards, and act as impartial experts in the field.

In addition to leading IFCII, I actively contribute to the development of industry standards. I serve on committees with the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC), and ASTM International, where I help shape and refine the guidelines that govern flooring products, installation practices, and inspection methodologies. These roles keep me at the forefront of the industry, involved in the decision-making that influences both manufacturers and field professionals.

Beyond training and standards work, I have written numerous articles for leading industry magazines and trade publications. My writing covers a wide range of topics, including manufacturing processes, installation challenges, inspection techniques, and solutions to common flooring failures. These contributions reflect my ongoing commitment to education and to strengthening professionalism within the flooring community.

With fifty years of experience, I remain dedicated to advancing the flooring inspection profession. Through IFCII and my ongoing industry involvement, my mission is to prepare the next generation of inspectors, provide resources to professionals across the trade, and continue promoting integrity, accuracy, and excellence in every corner of the flooring industry.
